About Us

Magician Foundation India (MFI) began with a simple aspiration: to bring access to play to children from low-income families in the slums of Mumbai. In the year 2004, a few likeminded young volunteers started teaching rugby to other children from their communities. Spending their days confined to the narrow lanes of the community, the children were unable to dream of a better tomorrow. MFI started working with them by giving lessons in the sport of rugby, and opportunities to learn life skills and encouraging education.

Core Beliefs That Inspire Us

We are dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged youth—including children, adolescents, and girls—by improving their health, education, and social-emotional growth through the transformative power of sports. Our initiatives are deeply rooted in the educational systems of schools and community centers spanning urban, semi-urban, and rural regions across India. Through a scalable, community-centered model, we use sports as a powerful tool to enhance both physical well-being and learning outcomes, creating lasting impact in young lives.

Hear From Those We’ve Impacted

Priya Sharma

We were looking to support organizations that go beyond just teaching rugby—and Magical does exactly that. Through their Rugby‑For‑Values and Champion projects, they instill life lessons like discipline, respect, and teamwork. Seeing 900+ adolescents train regularly and travel for national-level tournaments is proof that our support isn’t just funding wins—it’s changing lives.

Rajiv Mehta

When we contributed to Magical’s Rugby‑For‑Values programme in Mumbai slums, we didn’t expect such profound ripple effects. These kids improve in school, learn self-confidence, and many go on to mentor others. It’s a powerful multiplier effect—our donation becomes community upliftment.

Lena Kapoor

I was deeply moved to read about children training in five under-resourced communities and competing at the national and Olympic levels. Magical’s transparent allocation—covering coaching, nutrition, uniforms, and travel—gave me confidence. Our month-by-month updates show exactly how our support translates into real opportunities.

Amit Vyas

Magical trained hundreds of adolescents, who’ve learned not just rugby, but teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Many now act as community mentors themselves. That ripple effect—from beneficiary to leader—is why I continue to support them.
